Welcome

I'm thrilled to welcome you to my new blog, "Joy! A.A.C.T." This space is dedicated to helping you embrace the most fulfilling chapter of your life. Instead of thinking of this time as the 2nd or 3rd act or the 3rd or 4th quarter, consider it The Joy! A.A.C.T. of your life—where peace, purpose, pleasure and passion take center stage.

Why The Joy A.A.C.T.?

Life is full of ups and downs, and many of us have faced significant challenges, especially after a breakup or divorce. But what if we could transform these experiences into opportunities for growth and joy? That’s where my A.A.C.T. In Joy! framework comes in. A.A.C.T. stands for Accountability, Alignment, Communication, and Trust, and it's a powerful tool to help you navigate life's challenges with grace and resilience.

The A.A.C.T. Framework

Accountability

Accountability is about taking responsibility for the actions and decisions within your grasp. It means owning your part in any situation and learning from it, no matter how small. I remember a conversation with my friend Bonita, who took matters into her own hands when her son was labeled learning disabled. She opened a daycare to provide the support he needed, and today, he’s a successful college graduate. Bonita’s story is a testament to the power of accountability—taking control of your circumstances and making positive changes.

Alignment

Alignment means living in harmony with your values and purpose. After my divorces, I had to reassess what truly mattered to me. I created a vision board filled with my aspirations, and over time, I saw many of those visions come to life. This wasn’t magic; it was the result of aligning my actions with my goals and purpose. What are your values? What do you aspire to achieve? When your actions reflect your true self, amazing things happen.

Communication

Clear and assertive communication is crucial. Expressing your needs and emotions confidently can transform your relationships. Active listening and clear messaging have been game-changers for me, even in interactions with my exes. It's about being honest with yourself first and then with others. Remember, effective communication starts within. When you know what you need and want, you can convey it clearly to others.

Trust

Trusting yourself and others is the foundation of rebuilding confidence. My confidence soared when I learned to trust my instincts. I surrounded myself with supportive friends and mentors who reinforced my belief in my abilities. Trusting yourself means recognizing your strengths and celebrating your growth. It’s not about avoiding problems it’s about knowing that you can handle whatever comes your way.

Embracing Joy

“In Joy!” isn’t just a catchphrase; it’s a way of life. Joy is deeper than happiness; it’s a state of contentment and connection. By cultivating inner joy, you can navigate even the most challenging situations with resilience and grace. Nobel Prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu said, “Joy is much bigger than happiness. While happiness is often seen as being dependent on external circumstances, joy is not.”

Choosing to A.A.C.T. In Joy! has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. It's about taking ownership of your life, aligning with your values, communicating clearly, and building trust. Whether you're healing from a breakup or facing other challenges, this framework can help you reclaim your life and find joy.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m excited to share more stories, insights, and practical tips to help you embrace the Joy! A.A.C.T. of your life. Stay tuned for more, remember, joy is the key to living a wonderful life.
